Former Orlando Pirates Reserves midfielder Miguel Dias has joined Botswana side Extension Gunners FC in search of a career revival. The 30-year-old has been without a club since 2025 after leaving Sekhukhune United before the 2025/26 campaign, and did not hesitate to jump at the opportunity across the border.
Dias has signed for the Lobatse-based club ahead of the 2026/27 FNB Premiership season, with the three-time Botswana Coca-Cola Cup winners confirming the deal on Thursday, according to Pan-Africa Football.
Extension Gunners Confirm Dias Signing
In a statement, the club did not reveal the contract duration but highlighted the midfielder's experience across several South African clubs. 'From developing at PEC Zwolle in the Netherlands to representing AmaTuks, Cape Town Spurs, M Tigers FC and Sekhukhune United, Miguel Dias brings valuable South African top-flight and CAF Confederation Cup experience to Extension Gunners,' the statement read.
Dias' Career Journey
Dias became a South African journeyman, having started his career at Dutch side PEC Zwolle. He joined the University of Pretoria in 2016, where he stayed until 2019 before leaving the club. He was snapped up by the Pirates Reserves in 2020 and spent two seasons away on loan at Cape Town Spurs and M Tigers FC before joining Sekhukhune United in 2023, where he spent two years before his departure in 2025. However, all has not been rosy for the midfielder, who spent last season club-less and will be hoping to reignite his career in Botswana.
