Tshepang Moremi scores as Orlando Pirates extend unbeaten run

Orlando Pirates beat Durban City 2-0 to close the gap on Mamelodi Sundowns, with Tshepang Moremi scoring his third goal of the season.

Tshepang Moremi made a statement to Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane by finding the net in Orlando Pirates' two-nil victory against Durban City. This result last Wednesday brought the Buccaneers to just one point behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, and they have played fewer matches.

Moremi struck from distance in the second half, converting a chance made by young Simphiwe Masilela, who recorded his maiden assist. The strike was Moremi's third this term, serving as a prompt about his abilities after he was left out of recent national team selections.

"The only way he can respond is with goals and he has done that," Moremi said.

The first goal was scored by Lebone Seema, his second this season, following a pass from Kabelo Kgosietsile. Seema, who is part of the national team for coming fixtures, had also scored in a previous win.

This win stretched Orlando Pirates' undefeated streak in all tournaments to 25 matches. It is their best run since a previous season when they set a club record for matches without a loss.

Under José Riveiro, the team currently holds second place in the standings, having earned many points from a few games, scoring many goals and letting in very few. Their latest results feature several wins and a draw from recent outings, including a win away from home.

Orlando Pirates will play again next when they welcome TS Galaxy to their home ground.
