Orlando Pirates FC star Deon Hotto has overcome heartbreaking adversity to become a veteran player and help the team win the Betway Premiership title. The 35-year-old player lost his mother at a young age and had to fend for himself under trying circumstances. He was mentored by Elton Katangolo, who believes that Hotto's upbringing played a major role in his success. 'Football was the only ticket out of the township for him,' Katangolo said. His biggest club achievement arrived during the 2025/26 season, when Hotto helped Orlando Pirates win the Betway Premiership title. Hotto has also built a remarkable international career with Namibia, scoring twice in the 2015 COSAFA Cup final and producing another iconic moment by scoring the winning goal against Tunisia at the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations.
