ORLANDO Pirates are making big moves. Fresh from being crowned 2025/26 Betway Premiership champions, the Buccaneers have wasted no time strengthening their squad ahead of the new season. The club has confirmed the arrival of four new players while also announcing the departure of five members of the team. Pirates officially unveiled defender Mthetheleli Mthiyane from Stellenbosch FC, Sbangani Zulu from Richards Bay, as well as Bohale Ngwato and Ghampani Lungu from Siwelele. Mthiyane's move to Pirates forms part of a swap deal that sees defender Thabiso Lebitso joining Stellenbosch. The club confirmed the arrivals in a statement released on Tuesday, ending weeks of speculation surrounding the players' futures. "After weeks of speculation and countless headlines across the football social media landscape, Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm the signings of Mthetheli Mthiyane, Sbangani Zulu, Bohale Ngwato and Ghampani Lungu," the club said. Pirates added that further details regarding the new signings will be communicated in due course. Meanwhile, the Soweto giants also confirmed that five players will leave the club following the conclusion of the 2025/26 campaign. Bandile Shandu, Sipho Mbule, Tshegofatso Mabasa, Karim Kimvuidi and Deivi Miguel Vieira, popularly known as Gilberto, will all depart after the expiry of their contracts. The club thanked the players for their contributions during their time with the Buccaneers. "Each of the players departs having contributed to the Orlando Pirates journey in their own way, and the club would like to place on record its appreciation for their service during their time with the Buccaneers," the statement read. Pirates concluded by wishing all five players success in the next chapters of their careers. The latest transfer activity signals the club's intent to build on its league-winning success as preparations for the 2026/27 season gather momentum.
