Orlando Pirates FC could be preparing to give striker Sifiso Luthuli an opportunity to stake his claim in the first team ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. The 25-year-old forward spent the second half of last season on loan at Magesi FC, where he attracted interest from several clubs after producing encouraging performances in the Betway Premiership.

What happened?

Luthuli is no stranger to the Pirates setup, having joined the club's development structures at the age of 17. He was regarded as one of the promising talents in the DStv Diski Challenge during the 2019/20 season.

Why it matters for Orlando Pirates FC

The striker also gained experience with Pirates' feeder side Pele Pele and later spent time on loan at Pretoria Callies in the second tier during the 2022/23 campaign as part of his development. His potential was highlighted earlier in his Pirates career when head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou publicly backed the striker following an impressive display in the Carling Cup in December 2025.

What comes next?

With Pirates expected to strengthen their squad ahead of another demanding season that will include continental football, competition for places in attack is likely to be fierce. Nevertheless, the former Magesi loanee could find himself with an opportunity to convince the technical team that he deserves a place in the senior setup. | Stat | Value | | --- | --- | | Age | 25 | | Appearances for Magesi FC | 11 | | Goals scored for Magesi FC | 1 | | Assists for Magesi FC | 3
